How to Run for NISG Senate

  1. Pick up a petition packet. To do so, please email nisg@uni.edu or drop by the NISG Office in the upstairs of Maucker Union. You must pick up a petition packet on or before February 14th.
  2. Acquire 25 signatures from your college (example: College of Business and Administration) between February 10th at 6:00am and February 14th at 6:00pm. Signatures received before or after these times will not be eligible and put you at risk for an infraction. Also note that the Election Commission has the right to "verify" your signatures by calling any of the numbers listed.
  3. Turn in your completed petition packet to the NISG Office (upstairs Maucker Union, behind Student Life) by 6:00pm on February 14th. Packets submitted after this date will not be considered. At this point, your name will officially be on the voting ballot.
  4. Turn in your completed financial reports by February 26th at 6:00pm. Failure to turn in a report will disqualify you from the election. Even if you have spent $0 on your campaign, you must turn in a report.

The NISG Debate will take place on February 19th from 5:30-6:30pm in the Maucker Union coffeehouse floor. While you are not required to participate in the event, it is highly recommended. Senators who do not attend the Debate often do not receive as many votes as their peers who do attend.

Voting will take place from 6:00am February 25th to 6:00pm February 26th on MyUniverse. While all UNI students can vote for NISG President/Vice President, only those who are students of your college (example: CBA) may vote for your Senate position.
