NISG Elections

Each spring, NISG holds elections for Senate and Presidential/Vice Presidential positions, as part of its checks and balances with other NISG branches and UNI Student Body. The 2021 NISG Elections will be held on February 23rd and 24th.

How to Vote in the NISG Elections

Voting will take place from 6:00am February 23rd to 6:00pm February 24th on MyUniverse. A video detailing how to vote can be found on this page in the coming weeks.

How to Run for NISG Office

How to Run for NISG Senate

  1. Acquire a petition packet. To do so, please email NISG Election Commissioner (nisg-chiefjustice@uni.edu). You must acquire a petition packet on or before February 12th.
  2. Acquire at least 25 signatures from your college (example: College of Business and Administration) or 10 signatures from the Graduate College or Undecided/Interdisciplinary/General Studies between February 8th at 6:00am and February 12th at 6:00pm. Signatures received before or after these times will not be eligible and put you at risk for an infraction. Also note that the Election Commission has the right to "verify" your signatures by calling any of the numbers listed.
  3. Submit your completed petition packet to the NISG Election Commissioner by 6:00pm on February 12th. Packets submitted after this date will not be considered. At this point, your name will officially be on the voting ballot.
  4. Turn in your completed financial reports by February 24th at 6:00pm. Failure to turn in a report will disqualify you from the election. Even if you have spent $0 on your campaign, you must turn in a report.

The NISG Debate will take place on February 17th from 6pm through Zoom (a link will be provided). While you are not required to participate in the event, it is highly recommended. Senators who do not attend the Debate often do not receive as many votes as their peers who do attend.

Voting will take place from 6:00am February 23rd to 6:00pm February 24th on MyUniverse. While all UNI students can vote for NISG President/Vice President, only those who are students of your college (example: CBA) may vote for your Senate position.
