How to Run for NISG Office
  • Campaigning and petitioning begins in February.
  • Acquire a petition packet. To do so, please email the NISG Election Commissioner (nisg-chiefjustice@uni.edu). You must acquire a petition packet on or before February 17th by 6:00 pm.
  • Acquire at least 18 signatures from your college (for example: College of Business and Administration) or 10 signatures from the Graduate College or Undecided/Interdisciplinary/General Studies between February 17th at 6:00 am and February 21st at 6:00 am. Signatures received before or after these times will not be eligible and put you at risk for an infraction. Also, note that the Election Commission has the right to "verify" your signatures by calling any of the numbers listed.
  • Submit your completed petition packet to the NISG Election Commissioner (nisg-chiefjustice@uni.edu) by 6:00 pm on February 21st. Packets submitted after this date will not be considered. At this point, your name will officially be on the voting ballot.
  • If you are running for President or Vice President, you need to turn in your completed financial reports by February 28th at 6:00 pm. If you are running for Senate, you need to turn in your completed financial reports by 1:00 pm on February 28th. Failure to turn in a report will disqualify you from the election. Even if you have spent $0 on your campaign, you must turn in a report.
When is the NISG Presidential Debate?

The NISG Debate will take place on February 26th at 6:00 pm. It will be held in the Maucker Union Ballrooms.

Election Results

Election results will be announced on March 5th at approximately 7 pm in Maucker Union Grand Staircase, depending on the Election Commissioners' ability to verify the votes and financial reports in a timely manner. Whether dependent, there will be an online medium sent out to the student body from The Chief Justice's email account.

Transitional meetings will occur toward the end of the semester (applicable personnel will receive detailed information at a later date).
